Privacy Policy

How SepticTrack handles your data — spoiler: it mostly stays on your phone.

Effective date: July 17, 2026

SepticTrack ("the app", "we") is built local-first: your tracking data lives on your device, and the app works fully without creating a visible account or handing your life to a server. This policy explains the little data the app does touch, why, and the controls you have. It applies to the SepticTrack mobile app and this website.

The short version

Information we collect

Stored only on your device

Everything you enter in SepticTrack — items you track, dates, notes, and any photos you attach — is saved in the app's local storage on your phone. It is not uploaded to us. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it (photos you attached remain part of the app's private storage, not your camera roll, unless you took them there).

Collected automatically

Provided by you (optional)

Purchases

Premium purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. Store purchase receipts may be verified server-side to activate your premium features; that verification uses the anonymous ID above.

What we use data for

That's the list. We do not use your data for advertising, tracking across apps, or profiling, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers below.

Service providers

App Store & Google Play data disclosures

In store privacy labels, SepticTrack declares: Identifiers → User ID (anonymous) and push token, collected for app functionality only, not linked to your identity, not used for tracking, and transmitted encrypted. No other data types are collected.

Data retention & deletion

Local data stays until you delete it (or the app). The anonymous account and any server-side entitlement record are deleted immediately when you use Settings → Delete account in the app. You can also request deletion by email — see Delete account & data for exact steps. Purchase records held by Apple or Google are governed by their policies; we can't delete those for you.

Security

Data in transit to Firebase is encrypted (TLS). Local data is protected by your device's sandbox and any device-level encryption/passcode you use. No method of storage is 100% secure, but our local-first design means there is very little of your data anywhere else to begin with.

Children

SepticTrack is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data, and to object to processing. Because nearly all data is on your device, most of these you can exercise directly; for anything else, email us and we'll help — support@septictrack.app. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app's release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
